Governor Ibikunle Amosun is a man I believe history will never forget for the innovations he had introduced to the state of Ogun. I must say his first tenure proved he's the messiah the people of Ogun state had been waiting so long for,the man came, changed so many things about the state, repositioned the state among the best by constructing new roads, expanding existing ones, building new model schools
and the one that won the minds of the state dwellers was the building of the first fly-over bridge in the state. This and so many has actually shown that Ibikunle Amosun is a indeed a working governor. But this achievements were all done during his first four years in office.
When a new goverment comes on board and decides to implement new policies, which in the process would affect the people negatively probably demolishing their property to give way for a road expansion the people are likely to forgive this action noting that its for the benefit of everyone. For instance, during this government's first tenure,he decide to expand the road leading from an area call Lafenwa down to Rounda-about, all the water pipes in this areas were all affected but the people in these communities took it in good fate based on the thought that the expansion will benefits all. Moreso, after the road construction everything would be back to normal.
Fast forward to 5years later, almost half of the earlier mentioned projects are now abandoned. Since the inception of this administration, most of the areas that are host to this government projects are now in great lack of pipe borne water. While the excuse of this government is that there's no fund to continue with most of this projects due to the crisis in the oil market and bad economy.
Well, this excuses were all taken by the people of Ogun state, besides we all know what's going on around the country.but having heard the story of "no money" to continue the already existing projects, the government of Governor Ibikunle Amosun came out to announce the intention of expanding a road along Kuto Area which in my view is not even a necessity(that's not even the point). The issue is where is the fund to build this new 10 lanes coming from? I thought Mr. Governor said there is no money in the state which is why we have so many unfinished projects laying around in different areas of the States.
I'll like to remind Governor Amosun that this is Nigeria were you can only be a governor for just two tenures (which he's on his last lap). This is a country where there is no assurance that the incoming government will further his course thereby abandoning all this projects he's not taking enough time to plan before execution. And when this happens, the people becomes the victims that suffer the effect of wastefulness and mismanagement on the part of our leaders.
The fact remains that Governor Ibikunle Amosun has done well for himself and for the state by most of the laudable projects he had executed during his first tenure and instead of having a list of abandoned projects to his name by going into unthoughtful 10-lanes project,he should just focus and cement the ones in motion.
God bless Ogun state.
God bless Nigeria.
