''I was on my own, minding my business(which was nothing),no longer bothered that I was diminishing daily under the weighty burden on my mind. Troubles and problems were my closest pals,we wake,move,breath, hell,we even take naps together. Nobody could tell us apart as we were one. When you see me,you see problem, trouble and depression was the ring leader. Oh!! We so were close. I can even say other victims that do say they have a problem or trouble are with the mere photocopies because from the realness of the suffering I was passing through, it was obvious I had the originals. But you know what? I was getting used to this deadly companions, I was already bonding with them. It got to a point in our relationship that if they(depression and trouble) didn't show up on time, I go searching for them. Until one day, someone strangely appeared at my door-step. And said he had a good-news for me....'what?, me? , good what?,' I thought in my mind. You see it's been long I heard that word 'Good',I wasn't even sure I could define the meaning anymore. I looked at the strange man,and said 'wait o hope you're not Jehovah's Witnesses?' I looked at him, he wasn't holding any bag or Bible,good. So what's the good news? I asked the man standing at my door step.

The man looked at me and gave me a gift no one had given me in a very long time; a smile. I stood there for a while, wondering how a man on this planet could this be relaxed and happy. My goodness. The joy on this man's face was quite the opposite of what I had locked up in me.

'Hello mister, I've been here on 3 different occasions and it was either your door was locked from the outside showing you were out or the door is locked from the inside indicating you were inside' the smiling man said. That's the thing, I do go out truly most times but trust me ,it wasn't to a particular destination. It was just one of those sad moments my mind start frolicking about, when the pain in my heart needed fresh air,then I usually just stroll out for a walk. Likewise when I choose to lock my self in,no matter who knocks or with what, you had better come back another time because I must have been so lost under the burden of grief and depression. So,regardless of how loud you may scream my name, you're just never going to get me to open up( besides who even cared to check on me those days). And that thought made me enquire why all of a sudden,this man wants to see me,or is he one of my numerous creditors? No! This face is strange,I've never met him before. Besides he just mentioned he came with good-news.

' I have been eager to meet with the occupant of this room for a while because I was specifically sent to him' the strange man broke into my thought,.... I listened earnestly to this strange visitor for strange reason, probably because it's been ages since anyone even cared to visit or sat down to talk with me. The man was just more than a visitor, he was heavenly sent. I couldn't explain what that meant but I was having that strong feeling so I invited him as all along he was at the door step.

"What's your name Sir?' He asked, and I was like shuuuuuu,I don't know you,I've never met you and you're demanding for my name,this would have been the normal Nigerian response but no, there was nothing normal about me or my situation so I replied him; TUMININU ROBERT (damn, I even gave him my surname, well,who cares).

"The man smiled,and said 'wow!!! Tumininu,what a great,fine name....' What's fine and great about my name? I've been leaving on the opposite side of my name all my life,I thought.' The message I brought is from someone who wish to help, I want to introduce you to a way out of your situation, I wish to take you on a ride of fulfilment, comfort and Peace of mind.....'it hit me at this point, is this man from MMM or this GNLD reformed people!?'....I stayed silent, as the man said, 'the person that sent me wants to have a meeting with you, he said I should come and arrange a meeting between both of you and I can promise, if you accept the meeting invitation and meet with this man, your story will be changed forever.'

I listened to this strange man as he introduced me to that man he mentioned as the solution to my problems...' I want you to meet with the Lord Jesus....'. Glued to my bed-bug ridden seat, I stayed silent for almost an hour as this strange visitor gave me the answers to those stubborn situations that has turned my life upside down,I accepted the invitation, received the good news and finally joined the fold of the Lord Jesus. And just like that,Jesus took the burden off my heart,replaced my wicked closest pals( Trouble and grief) with a reliable, greater one (Holy spirit),and indeed,my story changed just like the strange man had promised.

But then years later, something us still wrong, I still get the feeling I'm not living as my Lord wants me to live. Something is still missing, something is still wrong...."

"And thou shall leave our Land"

I choose to follow silently on the issue of the Quit Notice given the Igbos by the Hausa youths to vacate the North just until recently I got to see with my own eyes the 'ticking bomb' set to detonate anytime soon. And its likely going to blast on some innocent lives.

Few days back I went out with a fellow corper to seek accommodation for the new set of corp members posted to my PPA ( place of primary assignment). I kicked off my 'hunt' for a house by visiting 4 different houses but they all asked me a similar questions and each after my reply they all said 'Corper, sorry o, NO HOUSE'(even when it was obvious they have vacant ROOMS).

'How many Hausas dey among dem?"
This is the same question everyone I visited asked and as fate will have it, 6 corp members were posted and 4 are from the North.

Due to the issue quit notice given to the Igbos in the Northern part of the country, the Igbos here as well has decided to retaliate by discriminating against anyone from the there (North).

The danger now is the fact that corp members from the Northern side of the country are not save. Peradventure any attack is carried out against the igbos in the North, all Hausas around here becomes the easiest and the first target of retaliation. And truth be told, there is no assurance the attacks will be solely for the Hausas, other tribes are vulnerable too.

Let the Government know that this is history about to repeat itself right under our nose and if careful and necessary steps are not taken promptly, then May God save us all.

Yesterday: Worse, still..

The whole place was tensed as serious prayer was going on and the Pastor said 'let there be perfect silence in the presence of God and just like when Jesus commanded the storm,there was absolute silence in the church until we heard....



'Common stop that nonsense and remove that charger from there...'

This broke the whole silence in the church and we didn't have to bother who the agent of the distraction was as everyone already can tell even by the voice. It was the Chief usher, the enemy of everybody, the 'seizer' of chargers...

I wasn't exaggerating when I said everyone hates this chief usher,No! We really do. Let me tell you why. The village I am has been in total darkness for a little over 5 years,thanks to an heavy storm that destroyed almost every electricity poles in the whole village, so this bad event has turned both adults and teens to great trackers as we are all good at tracking anywhere the sound of a generator emanates from( trust me,even if your house is underground, we'll find you especially we, the corpers.)

This electricity issues has affected so many lives that we've culled a slogan amongst ourselves(corpers),' if you forget your Bible,never forget your Charger'. That's how much we're suffering here and church is one of our saving grace where you can
charge without being insulted or harassed, but the only problem we do face in that church is not the Pastor, not the choir, not the Deacons but that of the Chief usher.

This has really made everyone in the church to detest the chief usher (well,maybe not everyone, but everyone with a charger) as he's always against charging in the church. Every Sunday we are always praying that this man should not come to church but sorry,he's always coming.

Now this is my point, everyone hates this chief usher, some among the corpers choose not to greet him anymore, many youths in the church mock him even adults occasionally pick fight with him and Pastor had to intervene most times while service is on going,the belief is the man is Worse but still ,he is alive.

That's the sort of relationship we(human) have with God. You,a killer,an abortionist, drunk,prostitute,liar,wicked,evil, backbiter, corrupt . Yes, we that are sinners and very worse as we are constantly going against God's command but Still,He choose to sacrifice his Son just to prove to us how much He Love us.

No matter how terrible or worse your past sins are, check, old things has passed away,they've become new,do you know why,because our God is so faithful and always willing to forgive all sins no matter how much, just for you to confess and forsake.

God still Loves you.

Yesterday (pt1) 'Blind and happy'

Woke up feeling lazy , contemplating either to go 'Shoosh' or just continue my sleep 'jejely'
. And just like when you just on the data to your phone ,I started receiving different response, one voice whispered to my ears
'continue your pleasant sleep, there's kuku no one that'll hustle you to shoosh'

Mtcheeeewwww!!!! 'Lemme sleep jare shebi na Resting day today be already.... ' Then I heard ' ...rest today and Rest On"!!!
Vrammmmm ...bathroom straight...

Got to church and I met the Pastor at the entrance, greeted him and went to find a seat amidst a not smiling, sad looking and very serious faced Church members . The Sunday school was on.

".........Shebi I have come now, na to dey listen to a language I don't understand, the only thing that I can really understand from the whole scenario is 'Halleluyah', not even 'praise God' as that's always 'served' in the native language.

"Corper, you don't understand what they're saying bah?, don't worry I'll do something about it" the Pastor came to tell me. But I guess for the service today I have to bear it as usual.

Amidst the two people I was sitting, (of course they were also wearing a very serious face), one tapped me and start talking in the natives.....I couldn't understand him but I could tell from his gesticulation that he was complaining about me putting my bible on an empty chair in front.

No wahala, I packed my things off the empty chairs but all this while none of the members smiled not to me, not to anyone(except the Pastor). 'Me ma self who I wan smile to nah make we all bone face nah, shebi church is a serious business.'

Then I heard someone disorganising the chairs behind me...looking back I saw the very first smile that made my Sunday, and it...(to be continued)

Yesterday(pt2) 'Happy but Blind'

ack I saw the very first smile😀 that made my Sunday and it was from 'Uba'.

Yes,I know you don't know who Uba😎 is, He's one of the very few men I know in the village to always get whatever he wants from whomever, no matter your class or pedigree ,this man is very outspoken...trust me when I say you cannot cheat Uba...but guess what, he is a blind man😎....(back to the issue at hand)

Uba was trying to find his way to the front seat (that's where he likes seating) and in the process,ran into the chairs. "E o,sorry o" he says. I guess he felt all the whole eyes👀👀👀 in the church on his body for distracting them.

I left my seat to go and help him to a chair and discovered he was still smiling. He wasn't laughing because he was nervous or embarrassed, no,the smiles was so genuine. He was a happy man,looking stylish👳 in the 'Goodluck Jonathan' kind of dress he had on.

Ordinarily, this kind of man that is physically challenged 😎is expected to be the leader of the 'depressed fellows'😑😑😑 if there is any group like that,but on the contrary he was the only man with a smile and not just a smile but accosted with a happy face😀😀😀. Uba was looking healthy with no traces of worry.

The first time I met this man he was peeling cassava, I couldn't believe what my eyes saw when learnt that's an blind man peeling cassava.😨😨😨

You see the lesson to be learnt here is that whatever you have or think you don't have,always give yourself a reason to smile.😂😂😂 The whole congregation with their whole able body couldn't find a reason to smile, talk less of a being happy but a blind man who ought be depressed, sad and feel bad about life was the one who 'wore' all the smiles available for the day and left the worries for the able bodies.

Regardless of how terrible your situation is ,you own it to yourself to wear the best of your smiles,ignite that happiness in you and try to take life as it unfolds.

Yesterday (pt2) 'na Buhari cause am'

Yesterday (pt2)
"na Buhari cos am".

Have you ever been in the sun,waiting to catch a bus for so long and non is coming your way? And you get frustrated to the extent that you start to confess all your sins right by the road there, thinking maybe this is God punishing you? Exactly, this was my situation that very day. After the long wait, I finally saw one(Bus) coming my way, although the thing was looking as if it needed help as it was more like a rusted box
rather than a bus. But who cares, I've waited for too long,plus I get to leave this wicked sun scorching my head behind.

Settling myself down in the bus,I saw an old man with his walking stick trying to climb onto the bus. Unknowingly, he knocked his head hard against the bus and I and some other concerned passengers sympathetically said 'ndo sir' (sorry Sir) but none of us got any reply from the old man .

'Umudike #150...Ariam #300" shouted the bus conductor
almost immediately and this took our minds off the old man and his head.

But then, the old does like to be at the center of everything as he didn't waste second before he provided the conductor with a 'hot' reply, "ehey, 'mechionu dia( shut up there), all you and your driver know is money,you saw an old man hit his head against your motor you can not even say a simple sorry. Nonsense!!"

This came as a surprise not only to the driver who has been quite ever since we got on bus
but also to every other passengers on bus, especially those of us who cared enough to say sorry to the old man.

"For my mind i was like Shuu
papa,how many sorry go do you nah, Abi nah sorry you con gather for bus".

'Oya,everybody yem'ego' (everybody pay) the conductor said and as if the old man was not on bus when the guy was announcing the fare for each bus-stop the old man had to ask again, 'Conductor, Umudike,ego le?'(conductor how much to umudike) I bet the woman sitting to my right must have been so pissed as well ,she said with a tone not too rude but not very friendly 'Papa ,the boy said #150 nah' and the old man got 'annoyed' again challenging not the conductor this time but the driver on why it's #150 and not #100.

The bus conductor rejected the #100 the old man offered and the man remained calm until it was time for him to alight then he offered the conductor #120 but this time with smiles. The conductor who was initially prepared for whatsoever trouble the old man would bring got confused and based on the so many 'eyes' ready to to judge him rude if he dare refuse to take the money from the cunning old man,he had to accept defeat and take the #120 from him.

Finally we were back on the road and I was getting myself readied to enjoy some peace now that 'the old man and the bus conductor saga' has ended, then I heard 'conductor no vex, na Buhari cos am' and that was the voice of the woman sitting to my right.. I was like oh god! not again ...

I looked at the woman, 'madam,what's Buhari's fault in all this nah?'
"You see na Buhari cos all of this" she continues....

Yesterday ( pt3): 'na Buhari cause am'

'You see,na Buhari cos am, I just don't like that man for anything and I'm never go like am'. As this woman continues to 'rake' in visible anger, I was like but madam you're yet to let us know why Buhari is the reason an old man is trying to escape paying for a service rendered to him but rather chose to pick fight with the bus conductor and the driver'

For all this moment the point this woman continued to hammer on was 'I don't like Buhari, he's a wicked man' but why, she does seems to know. The obvious fact here is that this woman is just like many other Nigerians without facts but rather feed with series of lies conjured by some tribal bigots and just for the reason that its a Northern on the 'throne' coupled with the fact that he's a Muslim, that's all the man ever did wrong.

Yes I'm not saying, he (Buhari) is a perfect, upright man, but trust me when I say he's way better than the last. In one of my talks with someone from the eastern part of the country, who also seem to have a very high level of hatred for the current President, I asked her why Buhari is that bad, the best answer she could give me from her brain and her mouth join was that 'Buhari is a corrupt man' , you need to see me as I opened my mouth in great disbelief. Finally I managed to ask her how this her claim is true and she said all the money Buhari has been recovering since inception, where are they? You see this would have been a perfect question but had been she's even sure of the claim.

The truth is some large amount of money has been recovered so far by Buhari government from some greedy politicians but many of them were part of the former administration. Had it been the former administration was upright and transparent, we all know there wouldn't have been need to recover any loot. I also need to let you know that, if I want to syphon any cash, I won't even let you know not to talk of releasing it to the media, as far as I'm concerned, Buhari has shown a good level of transparency concerning the recovered loots.

Another thing this hatred for Buhari is causing is that people now don't care to monitor their immediate leaders(Governors,Chairmen) as everything that goes wrong in their states is the fault of Buhari mean while so Governors are more desperate and wicked than their so called 'wicked' Buhari. Left to some people, they are ready to blame Buhari for any problem in their homes.

Let Buhari be,be constructive in your criticism. Never let Religion or Tribe make you blind, so far, so good.

'No be Buhari cause every problem for your life' ,check your Lg chairmen, your state Governor and most importantly, yourSELF.

Special 'thanks' to the Devil

I used to have this neighbor at a time,whenever everyone is praying for God to bless his/her job this guy would bring a small phone,show it to the heavens and shout a resounding 'Amen!'

Well,one fact glaring to everyone about this guy was that he was unemployed,as he spent most of his time indoor.

I got curious one day, I approached him,

"Guy shouldn't you be asking GOD for a job, instead of saying he should bless your work, abi you don get job ni?

He surprised me with his response;

"Who told you i dont have a job? This is my tool( showing to me his small phone) till I can afford lappy (laptop).

Then it hit me,'Fraudster,aka Yahoo,Yahoo'

That was my neighbor's job. That was the job he was asking God earnestly to bless and make prosper.

I looked at him and told him,

"Guy dont you think you are directing request to the wrong quarters? I think your prayer should go thus,

'Devil please,bless the work you've provided me"

This sort of life leaves us with the following questions ,

Why do you think God will approve or support you to swindle another innocent man?

Why on earth do you think God will support you to take possession of another man's hard earned money?

What gives you the impression that God will descend so low and grant you help on your quest to become a Robber without a Gun?

Do you think because you pray in God's name, that justify the act of putting tears on innocent eyes why you cruise around in Camry?

I had thought this 'Yahoo,Yahoo' syndrome was no longer invogue until i heard the recent case of a young boy planining of jilting school to become a trained fraudster(yahoo boy).

But again i have to ask,is Yahoo,Yahoo now a Profession? Considering you now see young boys and even girls of about 15-18years of age, dreaming of becoming one.

Well,thanks to the devil,

We now have little children aspiring to have millions in their bank account overnight without a decent job.

Thanks to the Devil,

Getting formal education is now  an option with fraud being its rival.

Thanks to the Devil,

Our youths are now Robbers without guns. And they don't hesitate to flaunt it.

Lastly,Success is a as process. Success must have a story worth sharing with your yet un-have children and generations to come.

"Leaders" that should never have talked. ( Politics)

I'm of the school of thought that believes that not all are born to lead and no matter how hard you try to create this quality out of some fellows, you just still won't cut it. If then by chance or occurrence you find yourself in a position of leadership there's a need to be careful of what,when and how you act and react,especially as a political leader many eyes are on you with the hope of learning valuable norms.

Yes, annoying issues may occur, provoking accusations may arise but once the 'light's are on you, take it or live it,your life,privacy isn't your sole property anymore.

Here are the "leaders" I think could have handled some events better, they should never have talked.

1. Donard J. Trump and CNN.

Duringa press conference at Trump Tower in New York, Donald Trump refused to answer a question from a CNN reporter as retribution for the CNN story that said he and Barack Obama had been presented with claims that Russia had compromising financial and personal information about the president-elect.

“Not you. Your organization is terrible,”
he didn't stop there, the US president went as far as saying,

“I’m not going to give you a question. You are fake news,”
This are statements that are unbecoming of the President of the most free nation. Regardless of how tough and blunt he might have wanted to sound,his action further portrays him as an unfit leader.

2.Gov Abiola Ajimobi and LAUTECH students.

When the video surfaced online, I observed people were more sympathetic for the students than the governor despite the fact that the students were actually Rude. Yes,the students were to rude in their manner of approach, this is Nigeria, southwest for that matter where respect and regard for elders is of paramount but the students threw caution in the air and addressed the Governor very rudely. I must say the mode at which they(students) behaved was enough to get a saint furious.
Having said this, Mr.Governor also descended so low to have lashed out to the obviously frustrated students. He ought to know better, when dealing with subjects under you, especially youths there is need for caution.

Going as far as daring the students to go and do their worse is a No! No!! for a leader,and a father that the governor ought to be. He shouldn't have talked.

3.Garba Sheu and Deji Adeyanju

Recently, the media aide to the President,Mallam Garba Shehu mocked Former President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for visiting a one time President Olusegun Obasanjo at his Ota Farm on the same day his (Goodluck) party (PDP)claimed he's to attend the inauguration of the new US president. The social media director of the PDP, Deji Adeyanju made the announcement that the former President Goodluck Jonathan was invited to the White House to witness the inauguration while the sitting President Muhammed Buhari was not.

First, Deji fired the shot,Garba came out to rubbish the announcement by mocking the ex-president and lastly, Deji rounded up the needless 'beef' by saying  "Garba Shehu is my boy in Davido's voice". This I call needless noise from two grown ups. In this case,they both shouldn't have talked.

4. Gov. Ayodele Fayose and Sen. Buruji Kashamu

'Fayose is a liability, a loud mouth and animmature politician”

All in the name of trying to prove your point that you are not pleased with the emergence of Fayose as the head the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors’ Forum, Kashamu dragged the image of a state governor in the mud.

My take is, Buruji Kashamu of all ought to know better, his attacks on the said governor are absolutely uncalled for,considering the fact that they are both to the same party platform and having it in mind that Nigeria system needs an active and fearless opposition which so far only Fayose has been able to provide, but then,the issue is on party factionalism. Kashamu shouldn't have talked.

5. Reno Omokri and a follower

One of the things I've learnt about models,mentors or leaders is that they can not be 100% upright. The earlier you realise this fact about some people you look up to,the less shocking and disappointing it'll be when eventually that go out of line. Reno Omokri, a one time special assistant to the former President on social media and a strong critic of the current administration also spoke when he could have exercised a bit of patience as a leader.

Follower:
"Reno, from your words it appears you favour Trump's Government over Obama"

Reno Omokri:
"How old are you? What makes you think you can address me on first name basis. Blocked."

As a writer,speaker and analyst I so much regard Reno Omokri,but you see, as I've earlier stated,once you have the "lights"on you,automatically, people look up to which means you are not just living for yourself but for your followers too.

I'm disappointed at the way and manner Reno handled that simple observation made by one of his followers. I'm still trying to figure out what prompted that sort response from him (Reno) ,was it the fact that the follower called him 'Reno' or the observation it self? I don't think either of those warrants him threatening to block the follower. Seriously,he should have just glanced through and move on. As a critic, you shouldn't get furious when some are thrown your way. Reno Omokri shouldn't have talked.

Having said this,it's not an issue of because you are a leader you should become dumb and ignore or take all sorts of insubordination but one of the qualities of a good leader is the ability to know when to talk and the best moment to be quiet and observe,this I've seen many times in the dealings of a one time president of the country, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Silence is most times golden.

Compatibility: The Trumps and The Obamas

On the 20th January, the presidency of Barak Obama came to an end and he handed the mantle of leadership over to Donard J.Trump in a glamorous occasion witnessed by millions across the world. There were many issues that made headlines based on the occasion but what caught my attention, away from the politics and other issues was the couples leaving office(Obamas) and those coming in (Trumps),their compatibility as a man and wife.

Obama's presidency was not without ups and down,as there moments when American citizens and even different religious groups questioned his ability as a President. And with some 'help' from the new president,Donard, many flaws of the Obama administration were brought to light. Yes, i must agree there were times people hated Barak Obama for his policies especially toward the end of his administration but you see,I can say from many indications,he is a good husband with a lovely first Lady, Michelle. And you know what, he didn't hesitate to use that to his advantage as many respect him just for that.

According to Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, he said "comparison is the thief of joy", but it'll be impossible to not compare the Obamas' chemistry to the Trumps' lack thereof. No matter how hard you try to fake intimacy, if it's not natural, it's bound to fail. The new President, Donard and his First lady,Melania,though new to having cameras 'chase' them about really didn't do well in their attempt conceal their lack of intimacy. Thereby almost all the moments captured were like artists, acting a script. The Obamas they didn't have to fake anything because it was there. The chemistry was great every step of the way. There was never a moment they were caught on camera looking distant from each other compared to the Trumps.

Its not clear, why the Trumps does appear distant to each, perhaps due to age difference (Donard 70, Melania, 46) or something else but the chemistry as a man and wife isn't just there,they could pass as a total strangers. A glance through all the moments captured on the inauguration day, Donard and Melania Trum didn't show any sign of genuine closeness whatsoever, probably the new President was so much interested in taking the oath of office and getting to work  than showing affection to his wife. But the Obamas didn't mind that they were no longer the No.1 family in the US,they still had time to publicly display lovely affection towards each other as seen in the picture.

I'm of the opinion that if you want to have a happy life as a man,just make your wife happy, by implication you're guaranteed a blissful moment. Barak Obama didn't waste time in making the world know who was behind him, who supported him and the one who made his reign prosperous as a president. He made this already known secret more open during his last speech as the American President. In light of this, I doubt if Donard Trump could go this extra mile to celebrate his wife,judging from their body languages.

Though It's understandable that not all are for public displaying of affection and perhaps the Trumps may be one of those or possibly because Melania though, the first Lady of America but not the first wife of Donard J. Trump.Regardless, the Obamas, Barak and Michelle seems more compatible than the Trumps,Donard and Melania.

Tales of a boring service

It was during a Sunday service in a particular church, after every other normal activities and it was time for the Sunday sermon. Normally, everyone was hoping to see the senior pastor mount the podium to minister to the people,but one of the Deacons in the church stood up and marched to the podium. Personally,I didn't see anything strange in this as it is not unusual for an appointed personnel to preach in place of the pastor but I could tell immediately the said Deacon moved forward with his Bible, the whole church atmosphere changed. I could read disappointment on the congregation's faces. This got me curious so gave full attention to what the man is going to say.

The deacon started preaching and fast forward to 25minutes later I couldn't put down a single point into my service jotter. I checked around to see if I was the only one not following, and discovered I was just in the same boat as my neighbours to both left and right.

"Ok,this is not normal" I said to myself, "I've got to put something down as Sunday nugget,at least the topic",this is my usual habit anywhere I worship. I asked my neighbours to help me out with the sermon's topic,the guy to my left told me he had no idea while the other one to my right calmed my nerves when he showed me his jotter, but there it was, blank page! What is this? ...then came this words from the deacon preaching;

"I know I'm wicked, I don't need anyone to tell me.....but what I don't do is taking another man's wife"

Immediately this man said this statement, I heard different sorts sniffing, coughing, sneezing and dragging of chairs from within the church. So confused, I decided to look beyond the distractions and focus on the man on the podium but the more I tried,the more I got lost. Finally,the man announced the end of the sermon and asked the congregation to raise for prayers and thereafter the Senior pastor shared the grace.

I got home,still dazed with my experience at the Church,i started pondering on the possible cause of the 'chaos' at the church,what could be have been wrong with the deacon on the podium? And some answers came to mind: Any man that wants to stand on the podium should be aware of his conducts, within and outside the church.

I could recall that instantly the deacon mounted the podium, everyone started mocking him,that's probably because he has previous records of a form of immorality. It's probably because he's occupying a post he's not fit or perhaps what ever he said was actually what he needed to correct himself. You see,the Scriptures was crystal clear on the fact that before you correct anyone, make sure you are not shooting yourself in the leg. The general notion is, anyone that wishes to mount the podium should be with less blemish if not without.


Nevertheless, the people should know that the Creator is not a man,therefore He doesn't have to think as one. Regardless of the status, class or character of the man on the podium, the Creator can still speak. Be careful.

The Marriage of the Fist and the Mouth

It was very late last night when I was woken up by some strange, loud voice. Initially, I felt it was coming from the passersby while really it was from my neighbourhood. The voice which was that of a woman,was so loud that one could tell,she was struggling with someone, and of course who else could that be than her husband. Strange as it was, I paid rapt attention to the voice, as such a case is not usual in my neighborhood so this got me curious and I tried to grab why and what she was saying at such odd hour of the day.
   
      "Ori mi afi'ya je e, ori Iya mi afi'ya je e. Iwo omo aale..... ("my head will punish you,my mum's head will punish you,you this bastard......")

This were her words. But funny enough, I couldn't hear any voice replying her. After a while, I guess the woman got tired and decided to let us the innocent neighbours to have a peaceful sleep. This morning to my utmost surprise,I saw the couple looking so normal as though everything that I heard last night was in my dream. But on closer look at the wife, there it was, black eye.


So this got me thinking,what could have have led to this, considering I've always known the husband to be a gentleman. Then my philosophy came to mind,

'no matter how well kept your bad self is, a wrong wife will bring out for you'

I'm not saying the wife was the problem in this case,but I one could rightly deduced from the scenario that it was more of the woman than the man, as all through their fight I didn't hear the man's voice. And the question remains, why? Why didn't the man respond to the woman's curse and abuses,why didn't he say a word?

Have come to the realization that the Creator gave each specie unique tools to fight with, a man has been given The Fist, while a woman was given The Mouth.

Whenever this sort of confrontation ensued,it's mostly the woman that will be at the front burner with their Mouth, they have the ability to make or mar a man with this tool(mouth). They are capable of making a man do whatever it is they want and they can make a man do that they'll rather not do.When a woman tells you that all is well, congratulations! But when a woman opens her mouth to say you are doomed, the rest is history. In other words, the mouth,is a woman's weapon and they sure know how to use it, even though they use it to their own detriment sometimes.

On the other hand, a man was not given this particular tool,rather he was given another, 'The Fist' aka 'the shutting-up gear' aka 'the final sayer'. I've come to know that men don't respond most times to women's curse and abuses simply that's not their lane,they don't understand the rule of words. Although there are
some men that do try to talk(use the mouth) but later discover that they couldn't be as good as the women folks and as a result, switches back to the Fist.

To live together, couples should know that they both posses different powerful weapons which is capable of destroying them both when not handled carefully. As a woman, know that your Mouth has the tendency of unlocking a monster in a man,which could result to him using his Fist on you. However, a man should know that a woman will always feel helpless without their mouth therefore, the need for maturity and patience can not be over-emphasized.

No sane man would beat his woman regardless of how much she uses her weapon(mouth) on you. Yeah,I know it's unfair but that's the right thing.

The Origin of Mammy Market in Army Barracks

In 1959,  Mammy Ode, a young girl from Jericho-Ugboju in the present Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State was married to Anthony Aboki Ochefu, a young Non-Commissioned military officer who had just been posted to Enugu from Abeokuta. They were quartered at the Army Barracks, Abakpa, Enugu. To beat idleness and perhaps earn some money to support her young family, Mrs. Mammy Ochefu established a business of selling soft drinks. She also prepared gruel, which is popularly called 'Umu or enyi' in Idoma, or kunu in Hausa, for sale to the soldiers in the barrack to help quench their thirst and energise them.

She soon became popular with selling "umu" as soldiers trooped to her house to buy the local brew made from guinea corn. Some of her customers were officers, who always send their batmen to buy the gruel for them, Monday through Friday and even during the weekend when they are not working.

Somehow, one of the Non-Commissioned Officers, the RSM, did not flow with the enthusiasm, which Mammy’s gruel generated among other military men in the barracks. He complained that the stuff was attracting flies into the barracks and ordered Mrs. Mammy Ochefu to stop its production and sale.

Though disappointed at the order of the RSM, she stopped the production and sale of "umu" in the barrack. For weeks, Mrs. Mammy Ochefu agonized over the fate of her business, just as officers and men of the Nigerian Army who enjoyed her brew because of its freshness and nutritional value lamented over the situation.

From several quarters, pressure mounted on the RSM for a reversal of the order. After a while, he succumbed to and directed that a section of the barrack be reserved for Mrs. Mammy Ochefu to produce and sell her "umu".

Her joy knew no bound few days after a section of the barracks was allocated to her for the purpose of selling the Idoma local brew within the barrack. She built a small stall for her business and soon, her business began to boom. Most of her customers booked far in advance for the quantity of "umu" they want to buy. Before noon, she would have finished selling the available "umu" for the day.

Soon, other women in the barracks became inspired by her industrious nature and tapped into her industry and started selling other items like burukutu, pito, palm wine, kain-kain and other alcoholic beverages in addition to peppersoup and other delights for the relaxation of the rant and file in the evenings when they close from work and they are permitted to drink alcoholic beverages.

It was not long before that portion of the barracks became known as Mammy Market. It also became a policy to establish markets inside or near military barracks in the country, initially for the exclusive use of officers and men of the rank and file.

Today, no visit to Abuja, the Federal Capital City, is complete without a taste of fresh fish in one of the Mammy Markets, especially the one attached to Abacha Barrack. Similar markets attached to paramilitary barracks are also called Mammy Markets.

After General Yakubu Gowon was overthrown in a Military putsch, Anthony Aboki Ochefu, then a Colonel, was posted to East Central State as Military Governor. So Mrs. Mammy Ochefu and her husband returned to Enugu as the First Family. As First Lady Mammy Ochefu visits the site where Mammy Market started about sixteen years earlier. 


It must also be stressed too that in retirement, Colonel Anthony Aboki Ochefu and his wife incorporated a company called Mammy Markets, which was into haulage and trading.

Mrs. Mammy Ochefu is alive and lives at Otukpo as one of the prized legends of our time.

Potential Killers on our Streets

So, I saw an intresting post on Facebook by Reno Omokri ( Former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan on new media) this morning where he wrote

intently on the Federal government and the rampaging Fulani herdsmen, but what got my attention mostly was a comment made by one of his readers,who happens to be Fulani guy.This Fulani guy made a very salient point which I think needs urgent attention by the federal government and every realists.

The point made the Fulani guy was,
    
'why is everyone taking it as if all fulanis are evil'

You see, when you live in a country where the government seems to turn deaf ears and blind eye to killings just because it is carried out by a minor ethnic, a country where the government doesn't give the needed attention to security issues especially when it's just starting out, then there is bound to be danger.

Reading through what that Fulani guy wrote,I came to the realization that just as we have bad eggs in every other ethnics,we also have it Fulanis,but that doesn't mean all are bad. I don't blame anyone who seems to have a kind of reservations towards the fulanis, but I'd like to point out that not all Fulanis are bad or evil.

Although judging by the recent killings by some Fulani herdsmen, the impression of an average Nigerian about the Fulani clan is that they are all evil and dangerous. The notion created by the slaughtering of innocent Nigerians by some wicked Fulani herdsmen is that they are potential killers, but that doesn't change the fact that not all fulanis are murders, not all Fulani herdsmen kills.

However, If the current silence of the Federal government should be maintained, it won't only disintegrate Nigerians, it will solidify the hatred already carved for the Fulani clan and serious reprisal attacks on the innocent fulanis is inevitable. Therefore, the federal Government should make effort on how to smoke out the evil ones among this Fulani herdsmen in order for this growing hatred for the Fulani community not to lead to war were countless innocent soul would be lost.

Devils on Evangelism. Prt1

The scriptural account of what transpired on the day of Pentecost in the upper-room made to realize that Christianity especially in Nigeria is in trouble. Even though many has persistently and fervently asked for the repetition of this great Christian revolution to reoccur but sadly it they forgot that the Day of Pentecost as we have it in the Scriptures didn't just happened by chance,there were cogent steps taken.

The early church were the ones who worked for the name which the current Church has bastardized, the name "Christian" which means "Christ Like". This early Christians took Christianity to every part of the world which was accessible. The early Christians were not Christians of convenience. For them to have achieved such great feat, which even after thousands of years gone,Christians all over still make reference to that day. In my view, the day of Pentecost was possible because the Apostles were thoughtful of one important detail, I don't believe it was due to the duration of time they spent in the upper-room that helped them, I don't want to buy the idea of maybe it was as a result of the Leader or the anointing of the revivalist that brought about the "hand" of God, No! I believe it was as a result of ONENESS.
      
          ".....and they were in one accord...."

In Nigeria of today, I don't want to go into how many Churches we have currently. We several denominations with diverse rules and regulations. And often time,you see most of this denominations trying to gain more grands and more branches. In the early Church there was nothing like different denomination,the Christians were in one accord.

When you listen to most preachers, they do make reference to the Day of Pentecost that would like to hold another event that'd surpass the initial one,and I laugh when I hear this. It's no gain saying if I say there no single of hope of this Event reoccurring. There is no Pastor, Reverend, Bishop, or Pope can achieve such feat again. Succinctly put,the era to pull this sort of revolution has passed.

The essence of Oneness can never be over-emphasized more importantly when it has to do with receiving some things from God. When the human race was still speaking same language, they decided to build a tower that would get to where God was,they started the process and almost succeed when God decided to disband them by creating confusion between them. God knew that was the only play He could use as that moment if not they'd have achieved their aim. To successfully achieve another day of Pentecost, Christians need something they don't have, Oneness.

Jesus didn't commission the missionaries to go and create brand, He didn't say Christians should raise buildings next to each other and start a competition of who has enough money to buy the most sophisticated equipment in order to oppress the other. The gospel of Christ wasn't about which church has the most branches RCCG or CAC. No, the evangelism He spoke about is clearly different from what we is transpiring now.

This days you hear churches having loggerheads with each other over who came to a location first, is this what evangelism is all about, you see General overseers going to court over what denomination should be own a parcel of land, is that evangelism? And we are now clamouring for day of Pentecost to come. How is that even possible?

Christians this days lack oneness, Christians of now are all about what denomination you routing for, the Christians of now are more of "this is what my Daddy says is right", "My Bishop says this is the correct one". This is what Christians of this era has turned Christianity. A pastor who is suppose to lead his members to God,feed them with the spiritual manna, is the same one that'd be seen "dissing" the other Christian denomination. A scenario whereby Pastor Tunde Bakare condemning Pastor W.F Kumuyi ways of pastoring. This crops 'men of god' people look up to for the way to salvation,are the ones that'll pick up the microphone to nail those Christians found 'guilty' of using jewelries. Summoning all this together, its obvious that current set of Christians are politicians, that has to paint his opponents or rivals black so as to have more members to his church.

I've come to the realization that the current church has missed the call, the sets of evangelists we have now are advertisers, looking for more people to convert to their ways of live instead of searching for unbelievers, those that are yet to know about Jesus, they are busy castigating other Christian denominations.

I don't agree that there are no more sincere evangelists who are still on track but the unfortunate part is that this set of preacher are way down the food chain,they are voiceless, nobody is ready to listen to them. While those with voice are busy politicizing Christianity. I must say the Devil has taken over the Evangelical movement and is currently channeling where and what evangelists says.

Christian leaders should wake up from their slumbering which can be very destructive, leave pointing or demoralizing other denominations, they should face the fact that that are all Christians with the main mission of searching for lost souls and preaching Christ to them,not Church, not doctrine and not Pastor. We can take the movement back from the devil.

Christian leaders and Politics: Journey so far

I have been trying to tell christians that their leaders are nothing but thieves,On the 28th of August 1963, a Baptist Church Pastor led 250,000 (largest crowd in the US capital ever)African Americans to the Lincoln Memorial, Washington to fight for the rights of the Black Man in America. 5 years after, 6.01pm on the 4th of April, 1968, Pastor Martin Luther King was killed for having the audacity to challenge a 140 year status quo. He was killed but today America is a free society. That is faith as exemplified by Christ. Where is the faith of our Bishops and Pastors. Christians should fast and pray today for the nation when we should put action to our faith? Are the pastors not aware that most Nigerians have been fasting for 9 years on less than a $1 a day?

Our Christian leaders are proud to host the President and Governors at their convention rather than confront the system. Can you imagine a rally in Abuja with Anthony Cardinal Okogie, Most Revd Nicholas Okoh, Prelate Makinde, Pastor Adeboye, Bishop Oyedepo, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Pastor Sam Adeyemi in the front and we their congregation behind them?

Muhammadu Buhari will take to his heels, remove subsidy, get power sector working. We will effect a 40year change in 4 hours. Acts of the Apostles is a compendium of actions and not fasting of the Apostles.

We are the salt of the earth, salt must enter the hot stew and dissolve to sweeten the cooking. I am not fasting today, I need a march led by our Christian leaders. There is a price to freedom that the church alone can and must pay for our nation to move forward.lets make it work.

Pastor Adeboye made the announcement today during the Redeemed Christian Church of God annual Thanksgiving.

The new Overseer in person of Pastor Joseph Obayemi will be in charge of affairs here in Nigeria.

Until his appointment as the new General overseer, Joseph Obayemi was the deputy in charge of Finance and a member of the church governing council.

Wishing Pastor Adeboye a happy retirement and the new General Overseer Pastor Joseph Obayemi a successful administration.
